<a href="#comment-305" rel="nofollow">@Scott Johnston</a>

No, the point you tried unsuccessfully to make was about due diligence on the part of investment advisors. Nobody invested in Fred Wilpon, therefore he had no fiduciary responsibility to anyone. Sterling Stamos is NOT owned by Fred Wilpon, Sterling Stamos did NOT invest in Madoff, and Sterling Stamos WITHDREW its money from Bayou months before that fund fell apart precisely because Sterling Stamos determined, through rigorous due diligence, that Bayou lacked sufficient infrastructure and independent review to be considered an acceptable risk. You published lies and didn't bother to verify the information. And your excuse is you saw Sterling Stamos "named in the media"?? What about YOUR due diligence?

In that case I apologize to anyone at Sterling Stamos. I have seen them named in the media as the involved Wilpon entity, but perhaps there was some confusion. Nonetheless, Wilpon invested in both Bayou and Madoff, which is the real point.

No, they not the same. Sterling Equities is Fred Wilpon's investment company. Sterling Stamos is an independent entity.

FYI, Sterling Equities built (and I believe still owns) the Lipstick Building...

Both are Wilpon entities, no? If I got the wrong entity, I apologize, but it hardly changes the point.

Fred Wilpon's investment is Sterling Equities, not Sterling Stamos which was NEVER invested in Madoff or its spin-offs.
